Vegan in Old Town Bangkok: Khao San, Phra Nakhon & Chinatown
The Old Town — the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Khao San Road and Chinatown — is where most visitors spend their first days, and it happens to be one of the easiest parts of Bangkok to eat plant-based. Khao San's backpacker scene built a generation of vegan kitchens, and Yaowarat's Chinese-Thai heritage means jay food everywhere.
Everything below is within the old city or Chinatown, walkable from the riverside sights.
The list

Kem-Kon Khaosan
The original Khaosan branch of Bangkok's beloved 100% vegan Thai street-food chain. Kem-Kon ('intense flavour' in Thai) takes every dish you'd find at a regular Thai stall — pad kra pao, pad Thai, khao man gai, som tam — and makes them entirely plant-based. Wallet-friendly, unpretentious and genuinely delicious.

Mango Vegetarian & Vegan
A cosy vegetarian and vegan restaurant doubling as an art gallery, a short walk from Khao San Road. Founded in 2014 by a family with organic farm connections, Mango serves a colour-coded menu of Thai and Western dishes — green curries, jackfruit massaman, pita falafel with hummus and fresh granola bowls — all made from ingredients sourced with care. Cats, art and community-minded values complete the picture.

Ethos
A backpacker-beloved vegetarian and vegan institution near Khao San Road that has been feeding travellers on a budget for over two decades. Ethos serves generous portions of Thai comfort food, smoothies, full breakfasts and Western staples at prices that feel like another era. Relaxed, unpretentious and dependably good.

Vegan Pranakhon- Khaosan Road วีแกนพระนคร- ถนนข้าวสาร
A fully vegan restaurant at the quiet end of Khaosan Road doing creative Thai-fusion cooking that bears no resemblance to the tourist-facing fare surrounding it. Massaman hummus, Panang curry ramen and mocktails that actually hold up make this one of the most interesting vegan spots in the old city — and one of the highest-rated at 5.0 stars.

Kem-Kon Vegan Phahurat
A fully vegan kitchen in Phahurat — Bangkok's Little India — that manages to feel like a brunch café and a serious Thai restaurant at the same time. Boat noodle soup, teriyaki tofu and fried oyster mushrooms share the menu amid an abundance of potted plants. Open 10am to 10pm, it's one of the few plant-based spots in the neighbourhood that keeps late hours.

May Kaidee (Tanao)
The grande dame of Bangkok vegetarian cooking. May Kaidee — named for its formidable founder — has been serving Thai vegetarian food near Banglamphu since the 1990s and is equally celebrated for its Thai vegan cooking school. The menu covers Thai staples (pad Thai, curries, soups) done with decades of precision.

VEGANERIE Grand Palace (วีแกนเนอรี วัดพระแก้ว)
Veganerie's branch near the Grand Palace brings the brand's proven fully vegan formula to Bangkok's most-visited tourist district. The menu spans the full Veganerie repertoire — including the viral Dubai Croissant and the pulled 'pork' burger — with vegan ice cream and desserts rounding things out. For visitors doing the temples, it's the best lunch stop in the neighbourhood.

AGAR RAGA - อาการากา | The First AGAR Cafe คาเฟ่แรกที่ทุกจานทำจากวุ้น
Agar Raga is the first café in Thailand dedicated entirely to agar — Pacific red seaweed harvested sustainably and used as the base for every dish on the menu. The faux shark fin soup, agar noodle pad Thai and Hor Fun demonstrate a kitchen that turns a single ingredient into an entire cuisine. Housed in a preserved 1950s shophouse on the Chakkrawat-Songwat stretch, it's vegan, gluten-free and halal — and like nothing else in Bangkok.

VILLA Veg & Vegan Indian Restaurant
Bangkok's go-to for South Indian vegetarian food with a vegan slant, located in the Sukhumvit area. Villa Veg serves a focused menu of Tamil Nadu and Kerala classics — generous thalis, crisp dosas and aromatic biryani — in a welcoming, Indian-run dining room. One of the strongest South Indian kitchens outside of Pratunam.

Jae Lee Vegan
A fully-vegan restaurant serving plant-based comfort food in Samphanthawong. Good for groups, has outdoor seating and easy on the wallet. A well-reviewed local favourite (4.7★).

Gyofu Vegetarian Dumplings - เกี๊ยวฟู
A specialist vegan dumpling shop in Bangkok serving hand-folded gyoza and dumplings done entirely plant-based. Gyofu fills its dough with seasonal vegetables, mushrooms and tofu — steamed, pan-fried or in soup — and pairs them with house-made dipping sauces. A rare find in a city where vegetarian Chinese food usually means mock-meat.

Royal Rasoi
A vegetarian spot with vegan options, restaurant serving South & North Indian dishes in Wang Burapha Phirom. Does delivery and takes reservations. A well-reviewed local favourite (4.7★).
